5 Common Types of Toilet Flush Systems

The following are five types of toilet flush systems you can find in the market. Read on to discover the difference between each system and learn what fits your bathroom better.

#1 Ballcock Flush

It is one of the most common systems found in toilets. The system consists of a rod with a floating ball attached to one end and a plunger on the other end. The ballcock and plunger are responsible for filling the toilet tank with water. Triggering the rod will allow the water into the toilet bowl.

#2 Flapper-Flush Valve

This flush system is similar to a ballcock. However, instead of a ball, it has a flapper filled with air. Once the water level drops, the flapper stops floating and settles back into its seat. After that, the tank will refill, ready for the next flush.

#3 Siphon Flush Mechanism

It allows the movement of the waste directly to the trap way to the septic tank. You will find this toilet bowl and flushing system in Singapore home improvement stores with a flushing lever. Pulling on this system will open the valve when you push or pull on it.

#4 Washdown System

The system is simple - it forces water into the toilet. There are trapways meant to take and store water. It usually has a gurgling sound which is due to the water entering via a trap-way. It is also because of the breaking of the vacuum seal of the trapways.

#5 Pressure-Assisted System

The pressure-assisted toilet system is a modern design, perfect for big toilet bowls. It is a power-packed system which uses a lot of air. The only downside to this flush system is that it can be noisy since it is a power-packed system.

TOTO offers toilet bowls in various shapes, sizes and designs. You can also find a bidet built into the toilet seat or stand-alone at Singapore home improvement stores. Check out the array of TOTO fixtures and fittings at a store near you.
